Thoughts from Afar Pt 1
He carved their names into a bench to show how much he loved her. Was it a symbol that his love would last forever? Was it a sign that their love was true for now? You have to wonder if Ivonne still loves Dan. I wonder if the smile on her face that met Dan's in '96 still remains when she thinks of him today. Have they become forever two names carved in a table? Are they just a moment caught in time for strangers to wonder about as they eat their lunch and continue on their journey? For if carving made love permanent, surely fewer marriages would fail and more childhood sweethearts would remain together forever. . .

Life Before the Net
Sometimes life and art coincide . . . today's photogamer challenge was to take a picture of the Internet. Today at work we were talking about the evolution of the computer. I mentioned that the first computer was so large that it took up an entire room and could basically add long strings of numbers. An astute 13 year old said, "It couldn't even connect to the internet?!"
Yes, it's true, for all of you out there who don't remember there was life before the net . . . and some of us are old enough to remember it.
